HSBC Card Services bait and switch

In April of 2005 I received an Orchard Bank secured card from HSBC so that I could establish a credit history. The rate at that time was 16%. One year later, they nearly doubled my rate to a whopping 29.9%. They stated that it was based on information in my credit report. So, I ordered my credit report and there was no derogatory information in my report whatsoever. My credit score was 697 at the time, which is above average.

This is a bait and switch tactic they use to lure in customers (which in reality, only someone desperate enough to have any credit would apply). They are deceptive and with an annual fee of $35, there is no reward in having it. My recommendation to anyone considering them is to keep their distance. These people are crooks!

On a second note, their ad stated that if you apply for their card and are accepted, you will earn a $50 credit to your account if you do the following: "For the first six months if you make at least you minimum payment on time, are never late, and if you have made at least one purchase in each of the first six months". I was accepted and followed their guidelines and yet they never posted a $50 credit.

I called them to ask why and they said they knew of no advertisement of that nature. They refused to give me the credit. I tried mediation involving the BBB and yet still no action. They stated that I would have to print the page from the computer and mail it to them. Well, I went back to their website and the ad was removed. This was simply a way to get customers, but when it comes time to deliver, they refuse to do so. This is fraud and I hope I can warn everyone about this scam.

I cancelled my card and will never again do business with them.

My name is Kiran Harakhchand Rathod. I had applied for HSBC - Credit Card Complaint. I had given all my document to HSBC. Verification department gave me a call to verify my address / Mom Name / Date of Birth. But now a day Credit Card is not with me I had given a call to there call center I spoke with a girl name is Shainaz / Pooja she told me that the verification department has clear my all details. But from HSBC Department they had mentioned my Date of Birth Is wrong, Now I am little worried about my Credit Card Might be some one else can used my Credit now, So please Try to help. I will give you that HSBC Call center number is 022-65102982 & 9920051974 is Pooja she is also working in same place. Now they were asking me give all details what I had given them previous. The Document what I had given them is my salary Pay slip / My Driving License/ My Office Identification.  Same document they need one more time. Please try to help me.

I am a credit card user for last 6-7 years and never defaulted but in fact given ECS mandate for payment. However due to change in ecs posting sysytem at bank on 02/07/2008 the payment of Rs.2786.52 was not made though I enjoy credit limit of good amount and HSBC blocked the card caused me mental agony & harrasement as I couldnot make payment at hospital on 28/07/2008. such a treatment for good track record card holder by HSBC gives a room to not to deal. Even call at call center 09928037373 (Chiraj) couldnot give me reply for such treatment. I have sent fax at 044-42100964 which I expect the company will look into

I have a hsbc bank crrdit card no:4476 9299 9026 7616 i was not using that card' but i am surprised to see my bank statement' bank has issued me false statement amount is 3071.  please do  settlement of my card.
