no coach attendant in AC compartment

By Amit Miharia, 18 Feb 2008 | Country: India
I had booked 3 tickets in Ac3tier for journey from Howrah to Patna Saheb by Danapur Express (Train No. 23510) FOR 10.02.2008 (PNR No.631-1842059, Coach no.AB1). Usually I travel by sleeper or second class but I had a six month baby with me and to avoid the cold I bought the tickets for AC thinking that my baby will be safe from cold.Train left Howrah at 21.35, when air-conditioner was not on.But around midnight, when I was asleep, I felt very cold. To my utter surprise I found that air-conditioner was on when the temperature outside must be around 8 degree centigrade. I got down from my seat and looked for the attendant but he was nowhere in sight. I had a horrible time, saving my 6 month baby from catching cold, he was shivering. After about 4 hours i.e.at about 4 am I could find him and asked him why he had switched on the ac in this cold, he simply went and switched off the ac. My grievance is that why at first place the attendant switched on the ac and secondly why he was not in the coach all through the journey. My baby caught cold and had to be treated for it.I had spent beyond by means for the baby but it proved to be more uncomfortable and extremely expensive as I had to spent on the treatment, too.
