Unsolicited Call - NO clue who they are.
Complaint
Ronin
Country: United States
Received a call from someone today from the number 1-800-619-5487. Left a message on our machine, said her name was Roseanne and she asked for my wife by her FULL name. I have NO idea who they are, as she didn't say what the purpose of the call was or what company she was with. Tried calling them back and got a machine that hung up on me after answering. Tried 3 more times, same thing each time, hung up on me. If this is some kind of debt collection agency, then I know damn good and well that it is NOT for us, as the only money we owe is our house mortgage and NOTHING else to anyone.

BBB shows several addresses in TN.
BBB report indicates they are a member, shows "satisfactory", with very few complaints over the last 12 months (6) and 36 months (10), unlike most collection agencies.

They appear to handle medical debt collection, and possibly pre-collection medical billing and receivables. They may be acting as an outsourced billing department for medical service providers, including setting up payment plans, etc.
If they called asking for your wife by name, it would be worth contacting them to ensure they do not have your wife crossed with someone else of similar name. BBB report shows other phone numbers if you can't get through on the number showing on your caller id.
Make sure no one else is using your wife's identity or medical insurance. Other possibilities include medical billing errors, such as insurance claim errors, insurance adjustments improperly billed to the patient, etc.
they appear to be doing mostly billing and collection for original creditors. Not clear whether they are doing "purchased junk debt" collection, which is the area that generates the most debt collector complaints, with the highest likelyhood of misidentification and abusive collection.
