Same thing, we recieved a invoice for $689.55 to apparently advertise online for a year. We never even heard of this business! Also if you think Im going to advertise my business info on the internet, Im going to make sure all the info is correct. Importantly they didnt have our business name correct or the billing address. When I tried to call the no. listed to inquire it ddnt work. Also the bill was datedback in Nov.Why would I just be getting it a week ago.
I brushed this off, until in the past 2days Ive recieved 3 other phone calls that we had signed up for advertising, and have an outstanding balance of at least $500. or more. When Ive asked for a copy to be faxed asap, &/or to hear the recording, (1 said they had they had from back in sept)....SHE COULDNT PULL IT UP! I said call me back w/ it & fax me over the invoice....Ihavent heard anything thus far.
THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING THAT WE HAVE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD LIKE THIS!!!!!

    Typical "business directory" scam.

Be aware that these scams often doctor, edit, or misrepresent what they claim are recorded phone calls.  They may make threats of lawsuits or credit damage, but they are too well known by FTC and AGs to follow through.

You might also be harassed by a collection agency next.  There is one in New Jersey in bed with these scams, making the same fraudulent claims and threats, but still all bluff.  If contacted by them, file a fraud complaint with FTC.

File fraud complaints with FTC and your state Attorney General.  If they sent you a fraudulent bill through the U.S. mail, also file a mail fraud complaint with the U.S. Postal Inspector.
