Shady Practices on Membership Fees

I did not authorize Bally's to renew my membership after I allowed it to lapse in March 2011 (after all my local Bally's closed), but they charged me renewal rates for 2011 and 2012, way above anything I'd ever paid for a Bally's membership in almost 20 years. Then they sold the gym to Blast, and when I saw the unrecognized charge on my statement, I thought someone had fraudulently charged my card. I filed a claim with my bank, and *then* came to find out it was the former Bally's gym. Blast had tried to run my card on 3 successive days, each time declined because they didn't have my updated card info and didn't contact me to update it like a legitimate business would if they had a valid agreement to charge their customers renewal fees. I got Blast to agree to refund the 2013 membership fees, but they told me I'd have to talk to Bally's to get a refund on the 2011 and 2012 fees. I called Bally's and was disconnected right after a customer service rep finally answered. I called back 3 times and got disconnected each time. I called a 5th time and finally talked to a rep, who told me they wouldn't refund my membership fees because I'm no longer a member. I said, 'I know! I haven't been a member since March of 2011 but you guys got paid 2 years' of fees! I want a refund!' He still refused, so now I'm filing a complaint with the BBB.
