Wow!  This is quite the scam.  I am surprised there is not a class action lawsuit yet!  I too had an associate open a second account.  I was not getting paper emails.  I started receiving credit collection calls and then would go online to my account (the original one of course) and there would be no balance - so initially I though  the calls were a fraudulent scam.  Then I found out a late notice was put on my credit report!!!  That really pissed me off because I have excellent credit.  I called Macy's and after sometime trying to figure out why my online account was showing a zero balance and yet I was in collections, we realized that I had a second account!  I had no idea a second account had been opened.  I assume that associates probably get some kind of perk or benefit for opening up new accounts and so there was unethical motivation to do so.  Obviously, from the looks of this thread, it appears that this happens on numerous occasions.    I am currently trying to get them to remove the bad report from my credit report.   While I have always liked shopping at Macy's, this incident has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I will now take my business elsewhere.
