While waiting by phone for a customer service rep from GE Capital, a "David Harris" from "Central Rewards" come on the line offering a $200 gasoline voucher for $2.95. Upon giving my credit card  info I thought better of this and asked that Mr. "Harris" speak to my husband. My husband harshly told him to cancel the request and reconnect us back to GE Capital. Immediately following this call I cancelled my credit card account, feeling very foolish for being duped!

Numerous complaints are reporting "Central Rewards" is running a fraudulent telemarketing scam out of a call center in India, using deceptive sales pitches with incomplete disclosure of terms to obtain consumer account numbers that they then use to cram unauthorized charges.

There have been a number of similar complaints of being connected with this scam by customers calling their own bank or insurance company.

There are some reports consistent with obtaining 800 numbers 1 digit different from major US customer service numbers, using minor dialing errors to entrap and defraud Americans.

What number did you call to connect to GE Capital?
What did you hear that told you it was GE Capital?
Were you actually connected back to GE Capital, or did they just end the call?

Block your card number or close your account due to fraud, to prevent on-going fraudulent charges.

    File fraud complaints with FTC.

In addition, file a complaint with GE Capital's security and fraud department, as they are hijacking customer calls and exposing them to fraud.

    Forget worrying about your background.
They are just overseas fraudulent scammers.
They have too many complaints to do much more than take your money if you let them.

File a fraud dispute with your bank, and block the card number or close the account to prevent additional fraud.
