Confrimed Reservation- What's that mean?

Apparently, having a confirmed reservation for a car means nothing to Alamo Rent A Car at the New Orleans International Airport. Not only was there no cars available, but they failed to tell me so prior to traveling 15 minutes by bus from the airport, waiting at the counter for another 10 minutes, filling out the rental contact and standing outside in the lot only to be told that there was no cars available after 30 more minutes.

This was not only a waste of my time but it was highly embarrassing to my company.

    I absolutely agree !!! Had a confirmed reservation on Thanksgiving day this year and when we arrived at the rental lot there were absolutely no cars available and more than 20 people waiting. There was no timeline for car availability either, they simply had no idea. And to top that they kept bringing people from the airport to the lot. Worst planning I have ever seen and deceptive at best. To date they have not returned any answers to my emails either. I am done with Alamo forever.

    This happened to me with Enterprise. You need to call the national or regional customer service manager and tell them what happened. You are almost certainly going to get at least a free day of rental as compensation. It just takes a little persistance, but it will happen.

    Allamo sucks so do all the others under their umbrella Europecar being one of them. We booked in 2007 with Europcar from America to Engalnd. When we got there they wanted to charge extra for insurance after a long argument we took a car. We booked with Alamo the following year not realizing they were the same company. I asked about insurance -sure it included - I made a speicfic call having read abotu scams on line and was assured the insurance was included.
    Got to the depot in England after a long flight only to be told we had to pay for the insurance. another $500 was taken from our account. There was also a couple there with traveling with five children. They had  booked a seven seater but there wasnt one to be had. They were very tired lttle children. Alamo could find something but it would cost another £1000.00 yes one thousand sterling CHEATING BAD ROTTEN and anything else you can think of to say.

    DONT RENT FROM ALAMO/ENTERPRISE.  The company is completely shady.  I rented from Alamo/Enterprise at the New Orleans airport and the next day the car was stolen.  I'm convinced it was an "inside job".  The car was found 54 days later in the same parking lot I reported it stolen....none of my personal belongings were taken either.  2 months after the car was found I received a call and a letter from a collection agency stating I owed $6,100.00.  Something is definitely fishy, so I stress to all to please DONT rent from this company.
