The caller stated I had to pay within 72 hours or it was going to court. I asked for paperwork in writing and was told by the time I got it the case would be on to legal proceedings. When I asked for an email I was told it wouldn't be sent until tomorrow. He wanted payment now, immediately. I Googled the phone # 877-228-1986 and Google says it is for "Greater Works Praise & Worship". I Googled BRG and found this site.

    It's a shakedown scam..
They are deliberately pressuring you to pay them money without any proof you owe this alleged "payday loan", or even the alleged "lender".  These are tactics designed to evade FDCPA dispute and verification requirements, which are intended to protect consumers from attempts to pay "debt" they don't owe.  They have MANY similar complaints. The pattern suggests they are engaged in blatant fraud, collecting fake "payday loans".

File complaints with FTC, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, your state Attorney General, and the New York Attorney General. Include all the details in your complaint, including their refusal to provide any details of the "loan" or the "lender", and demanding immediate payment "or it was going to court". Follow up on your complaints in 10 days to report whether they sent you the required "g" letter notification, or whether they served you with a "summons".  Bet they don't.

These are blatant FDCPA violations, as well as fraud indicators, similar to other "debt collectors" who engaged in fraud.
