I am so sick and tired of these people calling me.  I am dealing with illnesses that require me to rest and as I try to rest they are constantly ringing my phone.  They won't leave messages they call just call and say nothing.  How can I stop this harassment?

    It is illegal for a debt collector to make repeatedly cause a phone to ring for purposes of harassment.  Log all calls, including date, time, caller id, and all call details, such as no one on the line when you answer.

    At this point, you don't even have any reason to believe they are collecting on any debt you actually owe, or that you are even the party they are trying to locate.  Regardless, abusive and harassing collection violates FDCPA.

    You can sue them for violations of FDCPA, and courts can award actual and statutory damages, and attorney fees if you win, so there are attorneys who take these cases of collection abuse on contingency.
