this washer is defective and their is an obvious problem with the bearings. My washer had them replaced after 8 months of normal use and yet again need replacement a year later! Maytag will not recall. I have contacted an attorney today to file a class action suit against them.

    We just had the same problem and they told us they are refunding our extended warranty and there is nothing they can do for us! I'm in complete disbelief right now that they can do this. It's the bearings and computerboard in ours and it's just now 2 years old. The repair guy said these are major problems with these washers.

    i worked for a bearing co.in the US, our co. substituded  low grade chineese material for lots of jobs , the material was prone to cracks and defects, i reported to the government but no results, not sure if we did parts for maytag
