I just received a call from these scammers pretending to be a collection agent for Capital One, problem is I have never had a Capital One Card!  The would not give me their number and kept insisting I give them my address and SS #, I spoke with a "Cindy Morales", she did give me a number whicj I called right back and you guessed it she had left the office in the 10 seconds it took me to redial. They have pissed off the wrong person this time!

PRA is in the business of buying really old debts and trying to collect on them from anyone they can find with a similar name.  There are many complaints against them reporting that they engage in harassing or abusive collection, and that their employees may attempt to deceive consumers into paying unowed debts.

Send them a letter, certified return receipt requested, notifying them that you dispute the debt, and that you demand they send you proof you owe it.  Include that it is inconvenient for you to receive their calls at any time.

If they continue to harass you, contact a consumer attorney.  You might try www.naca.net
