Call from 'unknown' number to my cell phone, from a Julie Morrison, stating that I had written a check to a cash store in 2005 that was NSF, and I had only today to pay 1263.20 or felony warrants, tapes recording the transaction, and all other proofs of fraud would be served to me tomorrow. It sounds exactly like the post prior to this. beware. I have filed a complaint with the FTC.

After I posted the last message I decided to call the FTC just to check my options. I told the gentleman about the call and the voicemail I'd received and ask him should I call them back and he said under no circumstance should I call them back. Then I ask about them showing up at my house or employment and he said if they did to call the police( I've got the police for em). He said if they called back to get all the info I could from them and to call the FTC back. He said wait 5 days to see if I get a letter disclosing the info they're trying to collect a debt on. Then I ask what about them talking about serving papers and he said the same thing I saw in a earlier post that the law would serve the papers if any and that a check advance place is no more than a loan and you can't go to jail for it.

I figured that was the case but I just wanted to make sure myself. If you receive a call from these scammers, get all the info you can from them and ten call the FTC @877-382-4357.

I too just received the threatening message stating "i had 24 to 48 hrs to return their call or they would be serving me at work or my home" Funny thing is...in the beginning of the message she said I had already been served, then she said I will be served, I guess she read the wrong line or her script. Oh and she stated "GOOD LUCK" to me as well. Who does that??? They called my home number immediately after, I did not answer either call. When I called back...of course I got the voicemail as well. I have taken out payday loans....years and years ago, but I always fulfilled the payment so I'm not sure who's files they have stolen. The scary things is....THEY HAVE OUR SOCIAL SECURITY numbers. I am positive I took out payday loans maybe 5-7 years ago...but I always repaid them.

You probably did repay them.  their whole script is designed to collect, with no proof, whether you paid or not.

"Good luck to you" is the common ending line used by the Indian scammers with the thick accents.
    These jerks are real amateurs.

Some other reports are consistent with fraudulently collecting on old payday loans possibly originating in a bankrupt payday lender.  The account records might have been sold off, paid or not, or maybe someone ran off with them.

These people scammed me out of $275.00 dollars.  I am livid and my bank told me they could not refund my money because I authorized the transaction.  After I gave them my information, I thought about it and said, "let me look this up on the internet" and I found all of the complaints.  I was so nervous because I am a nursing student and I didn't want to risk any criminal charges, as it would destroy my career.  I am usually cautious but they got me this time.  I am going to ask a family friend lawyer what I should do about this.  I was supposed to pay $570.00 dollars but I was a little suspicious so I only paid about half.  I am glad they didn't get the whole amount but I am pissed they got anything from me.  Now, it is about priniciple, not even the money.  I spoke with Julie Morrison and she called me a liar and told me I was wasting her time because she had other people to "HELP"  I laughed out loud and told her she wouldn't get anything else out of me.  They are still calling me to this day because I closed my debit card and they can't put it through.  This is def a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ignore what your bank said, as it is guaranteed to cost you.

They obtained your account information through deception and illegal threats, in violation of federal law, specifically FDCPA.

Immediately file a fraud dispute IN WRITING, sent to your bank's dispute address from your statement.  Mail your dispute certified, return receipt requested, and keep copies of all correspondence and the certified and delivery confirmations.  Include in your dispute that your account information was obtained through deception, extortion, and fraud.  As the fraudulent charges were against a debit card, your dispute is covered under FRB Reg. E, which covers EFT to checking accounts.  (This may also be covered under VISA or MasterCard zero fraud liability policies.)

File a fraud and extortion complaint with your local police department, as well as with the FTC, your state Attorney General, and NY Attorney General.  Include in your complaints the deceptive and illegal threatening statements they made to coerce you into disclosing your account infromation.

Get a copy of the police report, and follow up with your bank fraud dispute by sending them a copy of the police report.  If your bank fails to reverse the charge, file a complaint against your bank with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency,  You can reach them through www.occ.gov
