False promises to push into contract

At the time of exploring about Dish TV option, I was told and confirmed by the sales representative that the 24 month contract cancellation will not be applicable if I have to move out of the country for any reason. Contract will be terminated without any cancellation fee. However, now they are telling me that irrespective of the fact that I have to move out of the country where theire services are not available, I will have to pay cancellation fees if I terminate the contract. This is completely unethical as they make false promises to get you into a contract.

Also, when I called them to upgrade my package to include international channels they informed that this would require re-installation for which I should either bear the cost or enter into a new 24 month contract. This is ridiculous as I was promised that I could enrol to any channel anytime as well as discontinue any channel anytime. It is error on their part if they did not install the right dish in the first place.

Can anyone please advise how to escalate these matters and get them resolved?

What does your contract actually say?

Local sales agents have been known to misrepresent contract terms in order to make a sale, at the expense of consumers.

Contact your state Attorney General.  There may have been settlements with state Attorneys General.

You should always read a contract before signing it.

I am in the same situation with Dishnetwork. The agent made false promises about no termination fee when I asked him for situation when I would leave the country, now I am asked to pay ~$335 which is totally not acceptable.
I asked them to go back to the record of our conversation, but they say, they don't keep the record...I am totally mad at them, please help.
They asked me to file a complaint at

Same happened to me. I knew I only needed Dish service for one year because I would leave the country after that. The sales agent assured me that the cancellation fee would be waived in that case. Now it turns out that I still need to pay the cancellation fee. This is unfair! Dish, get your act together!

ps. thanks for the complaint address.
