Dear Sir,
I and my wife Ms. Riffat Rahman Chaudhury, who are Canadian National, travelled by Turkish Airlines from Dhaka Bangladesh to Istanbul on August 07, 2012 for onward journey to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for performance of Umrah. We flew Turkish Airlines flight # 713 (booking reference REV5E7) which reached Istanbul at 1155 hrs on August 07, 2012. Our connecting flight to Jeddah was at 0055 hrs on August 08, 2012 which is almost 12 hour transit at Istanbul. While purchasing our ticket we were told that Turkish Airlines will give us hotel accomodation on arrival with free visa after we go the transfer desk and show our ticket to get a hotel. This according to our Travel Agent is Turkish Airlines was their worlwide policy, which our travel agent confirmed to us through email after obtaining confirmation from Turkish Airlines GSA Aeromate Services Limited (Confirmed by Mr. M.A. Muqsith, Manager Reservation of Turkish Airlines GSA Aeromate Services Limited ). On landing at Istanbul Airport we approached the Transfer Desk who without looking at our ticket refused to give us a hotel. On further query he informed us we need to obtain a visa on our own and cross the immigration and go Turkish Airlines Hotel Desk at the ground floor. After we reached the Hotel desk we were told that THY will not provide us a hotel since their was earlier flight which we did not avail. On our query to see the Supervisor we were told to approach her in the 1st floor - Counter # 15. After we approach her the answer was negative. Finding no other alternative and as we have paid US $ 120 for Visa fees (which we were told in Dhaka will borne by THY) we decided to book into nearest hotel i.e., Airport for EURO 150/=. In view of all this difficulties faced due to no fault of ours we would like claim necessary compensation (minimum US $120 and EURO 150) from Turkish Airlines or else we will take necessary recourse to legal action if our claim is not paid within 7(seven) of receiving this complaint.
We would expect a immediate response to our complaint.
