They are rude and unyielding. I certainly hope noen of their employees or family/friends are in such financial straits that they need to work out payment plans. What bioches!

I have been paying on a bill that was sent to them in August of 2010. They lost 2 of my payments and keep harassing me. They won't do their job and look for them, instead they keep calling me, yelling at me, and telling me to call my bank. I sent them a check with "Last Payment" on it and they refused to cash it. Two weeks later, I cancelled the check and sent them an electronic payment. If they don't get themselves together, I will be filing a suit against them.

The problem with sloppy payment accounting is that once the debt is paid, you might find some other debt collector coming after you for the same debt, while this one pretends they don't know anything about it.  Or, having cashed but "lost" a payment as part of a settlement, they either sue for or sell off the unowed "balance".  "Lost" payments and incompetent accounts receivable accounting are an indicator of various problems that are best dealt with up front, before they become bigger problems.

When your records show the debt is paid, insist they send you a statement confirming it is paid, showing 0 balance.

If they refuse, file a complaint with the Michigan State Bar to get their attention.
