Know your rights under FCRA/FACTA..
Federal law gives you the right to dispute fraudulent accounts, and allows you to sue if the creditor, collection agency or credit reporting agency fail to deal with it in a timely manner. Presumably you have notified Verizon of the fraudulent account, including a copy of your police report. If Verizon continues to demand payment from you, passes the fraudulent account onto a collection agency, or posts it to your credit reports, file complains with your state Attorney General, and get an attorney, since you may be able to sue them.
