I was brought to court after Lisa Marie Robinson-Martin came after me for a credit account that was not mine.  The judge that ruled my case was Marian Martin-Clark.  Are they related because the judge asked that Mary Jane Elliot provide documentation to prove the account?  No evidence was presented but the  judge allowed her to proceed into a trial knowing that I didn't have an attorney.  I couldn't afford it at the time. I put it on record with the court that I felt that i was being backed into a corner.  The judge assisted Lisa by giving her the Michigan Court of Appeals Rules book to reference my case from.  I thought that it was illegal to assist an attorney during a trial.  The judge made it clear that she could not assist me but helped her to win the case.  What can happen if they are related to one another?   How wrong was this?  I VOTED FOR THIS JUDGE. WOW!

You should not have assumed that you could not afford an attorney for a lawsuit over a debt you don't owe.

If you had a competent attorney, not only could they have challenged the debt, demanding proof through discovery that you were the actual debtor, but you might have been able to countersue for violations of FDCPA if they failed to comply with law regarding mailing notice of your right to dispute and request validation, and for sloppily sued the wrong person.  You might have won damages and your attorney fees, or forced them to agree to dismissal with prejudice.  The right attorney would know how to use the law in your favor.

    Penny wise and pound foolish.
    Next time get an attorney.
