GVC - Great Vacations Club & Mayan Resorts

My husband and I bought a GVC (Great Vacation Club) timeshare from Mayan Resorts in Mexico. We were given all kinds of travel certificates to use.

Every time I try to book a trip it comes up on the website as "Unavailable" There is nothing available for any time of the year. Absolutely nothing.

Travel was promised to us that we are unable to claim. I would like GVC/Mayan Resorts to refund our money as we were promised something that turns out to be a scam.

YEs it is, I run into that every time I try to schedule.  Not to mention the conflicting rules, I never know what to expect.  It's not been the resort itself its been the reservation services and the sales people should be shot there are the most horrible people on earth.

I contacted the reservations folks and wrote back and forth a couple of times then received a call from William trying to work out the issues I had with the latest reservation.  He listened to my complaints and worked hard at trying to work things out, in the end he came through for us and we had a very relaxing time at out timeshare in Puerto Penasco.  This is the tenth trip I believe to our timeshare which we purchased in October of 2005, I enjoy the rooms, pool, beach and location of this resort and hope to continue enjoying it.

We, too, got sucked into this ripoff.  We have never found anything anywhere we wanted to go.  A few things in places we had no desire to visit.  Also, when we did find something once in Hawaii the price was exhorbitant--not the $299 deal we were supposed to get but $1,500 per week.  Do NOT get tricked into this scam!

I purchased a timeshare at Mayan Place in Mexico, because they said they would take my other timeshare from me. After a year, I'm told I still own the old timeshare. Now I have to pay the maintenance fee plus late fee. I been trying to reach someone at the sales office and no one can help me. Don't trust them.

Two days after I made this post, I got a call from Carl Rowe who works at the Mayan Palace. He told me he would help me and to stop posting. It's been two weeks and I have not heard from him. I even called his office and all I get is a busy line. He told me I had nothing in writing about his company taking my old timeshare. So I guess he just lied to me too, about helping me. All they do is take money from hard working people. They are the worst. I have seen others on the internet saying the same thing.

We were happy with our Mayan GVD membership for the first few years, but this year it has been a disaster. They gave us a week since we didn't use it in 2009 and then tried to charge us for it in 2010. It was a hassle to get that resolved. I had 2 weeks with San Francisco exchange and when I called them today they had no record. The Mayan reservations office had no record either. Accounting told me all this was in error and provided the confirmation numbers.  Accounting told me the reservations team were new and didn't know anything. When I called San Francisco they had no availability.  We will have to pay for our vacation ourselves now even though we have 3 weeks saved = $3000. This is no longer worth what we paid.

Mayan Palace is one of the worst resort to provide with basic customer service, its not until we start posting in the internet about our complaints when they want to "hear" us, but they never actually keep their word.. they are buch of liars!! do not believe them.

    Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam
I suspect a lot of people end up buying time shares not because they want them, but because they’re persuaded by the hard sell pitches that accompany many of the “free gift, just listen to our presentation” type offers, and that's what happen at Mayan Palace. Their sales tactics are deceitful and misleading, and they know it.

I just visited the Mayan Palace in Cancun and I regretted so much, at first I was happy because I thought I made a good mayan palace timeshare deal but I didn't, actually I was going to bring my friends from Miami next month for them to see the resort and I am very happy that I'm not going to do it. They told me that they can sell 2 of my weeks a year and I call them and is all lies they told me that I have to do that. I just can't believe I spent 7000.00 in nothing. Do not believe them, they do not care and if you ask them for time to finance with ur bank they say they can't and you won't be able to go back in five yrs. u have to do the deal in the same day and *** us we did it but I will make sure that other people won't make the same mistake than us:

They have a website now. However you need to have the password you registered with them. I actually wrote mine down, but it does not work--"incorrect" They will email me my password, but my I changed internet companies and so I have no way of checking that old email address. There is no phone number anywhere.

I too got suckered into purchasing a package. I bought it in 2006 and tried to use the certificates a couple of times each year for several years. Nothing was available or what was available would have cost several certificates or I would have to add money to the certificate to rent a place. I complained to the company for 3 years and asked for a refund each time...I got the run around and nothing.  I have NEVER been able to use even one certificate so as far as I am concerned, they stole $3,000+ from me. There ought to be a class action lawsuit to this company.
