Hi,

I think I am eventually believing that I was scammed by 1800skyride.

Here is the background information:
We had brought Skydiving deal from Groupon for Sportations (http://www.sportations.com/). On my first call to Sportations Customer Service , their representative offered me a one time deal to add photo/video package for additional 95$s person (x3 of us =285$). I thought it will be good to have some documented memory of this event and brought the deal. At no point during my phone call was I informed that this photo video Package was from 1800skyride. I was charged on my card and the reciept was given to me, only then was I able to see that the bill was under 1800skyride. The receipt was under 1-800-skyride but The deal was offered and brought from a Sportations CSR. So I believe SPORTATIONS is equally responsible for the fraud.

CURRENTLY:
We ended up having to reschedule it for last one year for some or the other weather conditions every time.
And few due to negligence in rescheduling us by SPORTATIONS.
And every time we would also reschedule photo/video package through Sportations.
Finally we got scheduled for skydiving for tomorrow and while talking to a Sportations CSR again, I was informed that they won't reschedule my photo/video package this time because they have parted ways from 1800skyride back in November 2011. This is a complete shock.

This split should have been informed to current customers by SPORTATIONS and 1800skyride.
I have been calling 1800skyride since today morning but no one picks the phone.
SPORTATIONS is useless too. It has raised it's hand in air and won't cooperate.

It's like buying branded accessory from MACY's or JCPenney and when there is a problem with the goods, will you go back to MaCYs and JCPenney or the original vendor?

Groupon, Sportations and 1800skyride, all three should be sued.
I know Groupon is already sued for $8 million. Groupon for not really checking the authencity of the vendor whose services they are selling. I hope there is a class action lawsuit against SPORTATIONS and 1800skyride both.

Anyone else had this problem  with Sportations?
And keep the efforts against 1800skyride strong!

Try calling Sportations at (860) 581-4466.  That line gets through fastest.  Worked for me and they were able to get me scheduled last week.  If 1800skyRide/Thrillzown/headband charged your card for the video package (this also happened to me) then call your credit card company and initiate a chargeback on it.  this situation sucks but I was able to get what i paid for from sportations.  Calling 1800SkyRide/Thrillzown/Headband was a waste of time.

This was such a scam. I can't believe I fell for it. They really have a good thing going. I knew something was up when I called to confirm my time and location and they basically hung up on me. That's when I called the actual skydive vendor in NC, who told me they had my name reserved with my time, but that there was no payment and I couldn't jump until payment was received. The payment had already been taken out of my checking. I called my bank right away and reported the incident. It has been a complete pain for something that is supposed to be for fun and enjoyable. Not to mention, it's not like we are talking about $50, this was $572.00 loss. The skydiving vendor in NC told me that they have had more complaints about this then anything and that they feel bad for the customers. They have had people show up the day of for their jump and they couldn't go because they didn't even have a reservation. What a rip-off. How could people be so cold hearted?

Stay away from Sportations!  My bride purchased a Groupon for a Sportations event.  The website ran my credit card for the full purchase without applying the Groupon discount, so I called to correct the issue. Should have been a 10 minute call but I have been run around for weeks as the 'manager' is never in or is unavailable and apparently only one person has the authority to refund my money.  You hold for 20-30 minutes only to have someone say they can't help you and you will be contacted in 48 hours...the web is FULL of dissatisfied customers. STAY AWAY and book direct with your local vendors!

    Ripped off by Skyride
Vendor beware! I'm a helicopter charter operator who did 2 flights for ThrillPlanet/SkyRide/Headband in March for a total of $3,580. They marked up my services 30% and were paid by the people who flew with me. SkyRide paid me with an American Express card over the phone. Last month, they initiated a chargeback and were successful in taking back the $3.5K they'd paid me. Now I can't get anyone on the phone and I'm out $3.5K

DO NOT USE SKYRIDE OR THRILL PLANET OR HEADBAND FOR SERVICES. They are NOT an honest operation. Not only do they rip off customers, but they apparently rip off vendors like me, too.

I agree with J Shah that Groupon & Sportations should be sued.  I also purchased a Groupon for skydive Tulsa.  It went thru Sportations which showed Skydive Tulsa's website yet the skydive was scheduled for a dive in Arkansas!
Groupon eventually, after months of trying, gave me a refund on the Groupons I purchased but Sportations has yet to answer my calls, messages about giving me a refund.
    Sportations is a complete scam!!

Background-1 800 Skyride was created by Cary Quattrocchi and was sued for  (cut and paste in your browser) iplaw.hllaw.com/uploads/file/136454.PDF (READ). At the time of his ownership they had many 100+ complaints( consumer and vendors). He is very good at working the legal system. After the company lost their law suite he sold it to someone else, who turned the company around with less than 20 complaints in a year. When Cary saw the company had been turned around he then demanded the new owner just give back his old company(sign over her shares). He tried to get the new owner to sign over a 14 million dollar now honest company on a single sheet of paper. The New owner said no, so the company who managed our domains(websites) shut them off at Carys request. They put the web sites back up that they controlled, but did not own with their numbers on it. Furthermore, In retaliation for not signing the paperwork, Cary and his son did charged backs on paid vendor accounts(Amex credit cards). Again making it look like the new 1800 skyride did it. He charge back over 200,000 dollars and use it to help fund his new company Sportations/lifestyle that is in his sons name. Sportations owes 1 800 skyride over 800,000 dollars though non payment of services provided. The idea of 800 Skyride was wonderful, the execution of the idea was awful.

You draw your own conclusions, I truly hope someone goes to jail.

    Peace!

It is appalling to see so many people being scamed and no action taken against SPORTATIONS!

I had followed up with Sportations after posting a complaint here. They said well my vouchers are being processed for refund. And then for more then a month no one got back ever. I eventually got hold of their manager and she basically said she won't give the money back and just forget about the photo/video deal for 1800skyride.

I had brought all the deals on American Express Gift card hence I cannot get my money back by disputing charges.

Seriously thinking of filing compaint in consumer court!

    Keep the effort strong.

This company is totally unbelievable. Sportations needs to be shut down. I have spent 3 months trying to book a glider trip I purchased for my son's birthday. Phone calls are constanty dropped, e mails unansweded, they totatlly ignore their on line booking system. I am sitting on the phone right now- 1 hour into the whole thing. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

I'm really surprised. My dad bought me 4 groupons totally to $200. Since yesterday I've called Sportations 5 times. Now today, I've been on hold since 9am (It's almost 11am now)...
I'm currently still on hold while writing this. YES I agree with everyone here. They need to shut down and Groupon needs to return our money back...

Sportations is a COMPLETE scam. Do NOT use them!! I ordered a skydive through Groupon with them, and they were so sketchy about everything that I finally got my refund from Groupon, then booked a skydive at full price by calling the place directly.

However, I had purchased a video from "Sportations", they said they would refund me and haven't. All the numbers they called me on are now disconnected. This is ridiculous. If anyone has any suggestions on how I could get the money back for my video, I would really appreciate it. My email is alliefox1213@gmail.com.

I hope this serves as a warning to people who are thinking about purchasing a skydive with them.

Take your fingers off SPORTATIONS!! Pre-paid for a skydiving event htta was cancelled. Took three months to receive the refund checks. And, when I tried to cash the checks it turned out that the account didn't exist. Now I'm again fighting for my money. The whole issue goes on now for more than 7 months. Still fighting for a refund.

I agree with everybody on this page: They need to shut down and Groupon needs to return our money back...

    Someone who worked there!!!
Sportations is affiliated with 1800skyride/Thrillplanet/Headband LLC, and MANY MORE WEBSITES ADVERTESING NAMES!!!

    ATTENTION CUSTOMERS!!!

Once you buy your ticket through a discounted website such as GROUPON, LIVING SOCIAL....and MANY MORE OUT THERE, you received a great deal on your tandem skydive/balloon ride/glider ride/helicopter ride and etc....HOWEVER; when you call in to book your reservation, you have to go through Sportations. They'll get in touch with the actual Vendor and book a reservation you. Being a SCAM...they'll offer you a GREAT DEAL add-on....BULL&^*@....Don't buy their add-ons regardless of what is for!!! Even if they discount IT!!!!!. AS LONG as they make their 20% profit margin, they'll negotiate with you...

REMEMBER ALL OF THEIR TICKETS ARE NONREFUNDABLE!!!!

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!! I WORKED THERE!!!

We should all file a class action suit againt Cary, his family, and his companies for his fraud...I would love for someone who "knows the legal system"  better than he does to kick his rear right into prision!  Any attorneys can contact me at cocosmom62@gmail.com.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! I have had major issues with this company and have stopped doing flights for them since the end of 2011 when I did not get paid what they owed me. They overcharge people for flights, their groupons are a scam, people will not be able to do their flights. I just spoke with one person who used to be my contact and he tried to lie when I told him I will not do any business with a scam company like them. Said something like they did not start until a year ago. I told him I have emails and invoices from long before that time so he should stop his lying right there. Yet, they are still trying to send people our way and charge the people who don't know any better. Here's a FYI: If you want to do a discovery flight or anything like it, contact a business who provides this service direct. You don't need scams like this to book this for you and run with your money. To give you an idea: people would get charged close to $200.00 for what would be $120.00 at the time if people would schedule direct with our flight school.

My now husband, booked a hot air balloon ride through SkyRide in April 2011, he was set to propose to me on my birthday in the balloon. They called him the day before and cancelled due to 'bad weather' and my husband ended up winging his proposal. We had booked a hotel and everything to make it to the take off spot in time. My then fiance rebooked and the guy  called again and cancelled the next 3 weeks! All due to 'bad weather' Now..my husband, has yet to get any money back! THIS IS BS!

I had bought a Groupon last year for Skydiving with Sportations. I tried calling them multiple times and always get an answering machine. No one called me back. I went to the website and booked a skydive anyways thinking I can sort out the Groupon once I get there. My skydive is booked in the next couple of weeks, but now the Sportations website is down. Now I'm reading all of these complaints. I think I got scammed. :( I'm hoping I can get the credit card company to take off the Sportations charge, but we'll see what happens.

People....if you want to do a skydive, call a local dropzone and book directly with them.  They aren't hard to find.  Google skydiving facilities in your area.  I work for a dz owner, and we have it listed on our website, to CALL US DIRECTLY.  We charge exactly as listed on our website. ($240 for a tandem skydive....no additional fees. etc.  The reservation sites tack on an extra 20%.  We had a guy come out a few weeks ago, who paid $295 per tandem for two tandems).  He paid an extra $55 per tandem for someone to find a dz for him to go to and to take his credit card info.  If someone books with us, payment is not made until the day of their skydive.  That is how most dzs operate.  They may charge a deposit in order to make sure the tandem shows up on the day of their skydive, but that deposit is taken off when they pay their remaining balance.  STOP USING RESERVATION SERVICES, AND CALL THE COMPANIES THEMSELVES.  You are overpaying to use a reservation service.  Do the legwork yourself, and will not be overcharged or taken advantage of, because you will be dealing directly with the company that is providing the service.
