Audi Tire Recall Didn't Honor Promise to Reimburse Owners

In Spetember 2003, Audi issued a tire recall for 2001 A6 models. At that time, I was leasing a 2001 A6 2.7T, which was affected by the recall. The recall notice stated that the original tires supplied on the car were not the correct tires and were not in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110.
The tire specification sticker was also wrong so anyone replacing tires would have the wrong specifications and would end up with the wrong tires. The recall letter clearly stated that Audi would reimburse anyone who had spent money on tires and that Audi would replace the tires at no cost.
Audi did replace the tires, which was nice, but they absolutely refused to honor the promise to reimburse me for the money I'd spent on the wrong tires for the time I owned the car. I spent over $1200 on replacement tires during my lease. I actually had a blowout at 70 mph on the highway due to having the wrong tires on the car. Based on my experience I strongly recommend that no one should ever buy or lease an Audi.
