My biggest complaint with Read America is that I ordered magazines for my daycare business. I closed the business due to the economy crash and low daycare numbers and asked to have the magazines stop. They said they prepaid for all the magazines so I couldn't get out of it, just change the magazines to ones I would read. I did that reluctantly because I really just wanted to cancel all together. Since they refuse to let me just stop the magazines and pay off the ones I already received, I'm stuck in a position of keeping a contract I can't afford because their opt out fee is upwards of $150.00 or more. Well when you are struggling to keep your house and have food on the table, the last people on the planet that get paid is a magazine company you don't want in the first place that won't let you out of their contract without a fee. Then to top it off some woman named CJ leaves snotty messages which do not make it a pleasant phone call to return so you avoid her like the plague and feel the need to leave them an email explaining why you won't take their calls. It's just a stupid idea in the first place to ever have an account with this company. Some Customer Service agents are super nice & understanding but CJ is making it just about impossible for me to want to return her call. I'm not even concerned if they send me to collections because there is nothing to collect without a fight & they won't win because it would cost them too much money to even hassle with that to make it worth their while. If they would just back off I will be happy to finish paying my debt to them when & only when we are back on our feet. Never do business with a company that says they pay up front for the product & that you owe them.
