I get repeated calls telling me "We are calling in regard to your credit card ending in ####".  I do have a card with those numbers, but the bank issuing the card does not sell information and has no contract with anyone to make calls to us.  The caller says "We will send you a reward....".  I then hang up.  I demand they take me off the list but they do not.

It sounds like they are telemarketers running some "shopping spree" scam.  These often use well known names such as "Walmart" to sound legitimate.

"VISA" does not make telemarketing calls, and this is NOT your bank, so their claim to be with either is part of a deceptive con.

The only "reward" you can expect from them is they will take your money if they can.

It is not clear whether they have only partial credit card information, or more complete information but are attempting to get or fake "authorizations".  Regardless, whatever information they do have was illegally obtained, and FTC has prosecuted similar scammers trading in consumer card information.

They are engaging in criminal credit card fraud.

Just got the same call.  They want to verify my address and card# so they can send me a free $100.00 gift card to wallmart.  They had my personal info, but didn't know what bank my credit card was from.  I told them I would not give out any personal info over the phone and he became rude and buligerent.  I became more rude and beligerent and kept him on the line until he finally hung up.  IMO the only way to get these people to go away is to waste their time.  They will keep calling back if you don't make it painfully clear they have no option to swindle you.  I believe they get their information from some online purchasers.  I used my card to buy something online and 5 days later got a call from these folks.  (the first time.)  I immediatley canceled the card and had a new one issued.  When they called me back today (about 6 weeks after the last call) the referenced the same card # and not my new one.  Clearly they are up to no good.

Hello and thank you for your post.  Although I agree with you that they are idiots and the only way to get rid of them is to humor them, but, there must be a consumer protection law against this type of telemarketing harrassment.  If anyone out there knows who should receive these complaints please publish it.  I know my own cell phone provider won't help (Tmobile) saying they have no wait of intercepting these calls when they hit their servers.  Anyone?

Guess what everyone?  The callers are from a cold-calling telemarketing sweat shop on behalf of GLOBAL REWARDS.  I managed to get one of the barely english-speaking women to give me the name of the company.  I just filed a complaint with the FCC against them.  Here is their website:  https://portal.mycardlink.com/MyCardLinkWeb/appmanager/mycardlink/cgr.  Here is the name of the woman in charge:

I got the same calls but when I asked where they were from I was told Clearwater Florida. Interestingly the card they gave the last 4 digits was never activated, used for fraudulent purchased and canceled by the bank. I have filed a complaint with the FTC.

Got tired of harassment from these people, after asking them to remove me from their list.  I engaged the caller for a while, and then I said, "They are not going to pay you.  I know someone that worked for Global Rewards for two weeks, and they never got paid.  This company is a bunch of crooks that will use your labor but never pay you for it."   The call was abruptly disconnected.

If they call me again, I will continue to try to convince each caller that they are being ripped off by Global Rewards.  Perhaps this is a bit unethical, but I am determined to fight back against these con artists.

    Played their game
Got about 4 calls from Global Rewards today alone. Finally took the call and played their game. They said they only had my last four digits and that was all they needed. Instead of giving them my personal address, gave them my business. When they asked for a valid email, gave them one I rarely look at, at all. So I will check in about a week to see if the $100 gift card comes.

Here is the game changer. I called my Credit card company immediately following and spoke to the fraud department and asked them to send out brand new cards with a completely different account number. They said done and as of today if that company or any other has our card number and try's to use it, it will come up as stolen!!!! Got them.
