Hi Team
I have a Whirlpool double door, frost free refrigerator Model - Whirlpool 450 DLX PROTTON, Serial No INE 112902907, my refrigerator was working with almost no problems for quite some time, but suddenly 4 days before the plastic component box and condenser at the back of my refrigerator compressor caught fire and melted, luckily we were at home due to which a hazardous incident was noticed on time and it did not result into a bigger incident.
I duly registered a complaint (SR# - DL0913005797) with Whirlpool but engineer visited my place after two days and multiple follow-ups on customer care and engineers number. The engineer who came over finally used the same melted box to provide a workaround till the time he get the required parts to fix the issue. When asked why is he not replacing the part he said even the new part can catch fire there is no guarantee to it, apparently it seems to be a design / manufacturing flaw which resulted into this incident.
Considering this I don’t want to keep such appliance in my house please arrange a complete replacement of the faulty fridge as this can further result into a similar incident and can cause bigger damage to my property. Also treat this on priority else I will be forced to approach consumer forum to get this issue to closure.
