Poor Service & Lack of Staff

Friday Jan. 22, 2010 we dined at Zeller's Restaurant in the Westmount Mall store. At 6:00 p.m. the restaurant was extremely busy, but we did manage to get a table. We have experienced very slow service in the past and debated as to whether or not we wanted a long wait! The food won out as we enjoy the variety and quality available. However, there were only two waitresses working the whole floor, as well as bussing, taking orders, and attending cash. The kitchen has not enough help & can't pump out the orders. Some people asked to take their food with them as they had an appointment. Our waitress explained to us (after apologizing for a 20 min wait (not bad!)that Zellers had downsized staff (the store looks like it!!) and their popular restaurant is suffering, along with the rest of the store. Unfortunately - the waitress takes the brunt of complaints re slow service - (kitchen can only work so fast with short staff.)Our waitress was literally running from cash to clearing tables and serving orders, etc. Your restaurant will suffer due to lack of staff - and this is a shame! The food has always been great, but service is the pitts. Not the fault of staff, but the fault of management!  Perhaps cuts at the corporate top would be more appropriate than the poor floor worker who needs to work and provide service!
