Service cancellation

My Kitchenaid refrigerator broke for the second time on Wednesday and I scheduled a service appointment for Friday between 1-5pm. I chose A&E because they are the only approved servicer of Kitchenaid appliances in NYC. On Thursday, I called to confirm the appointment.
Then at 10am on Friday, A&E calls to say that no technician is available, and that the earliest they can send someone out is the FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY. That's 5 full days after the original appointment was scheduled.
So now my choices are to pay a non-approved contractor (which I did before, and is likely the reason my refrigerator is broken again) or bend over and tAkE it. I am fortunate that I have job flexibility so I can wAstE my time waiting for these clowns. I'm not sure why KitchenAid would want to affiliate itself with such a hAlf-ratE organization.
