So I get this voicemail from this guy who has a very thick Indian accent telling me that I needed to call him within 24hrs or it would not be good for me. So of courses I was frightened and I called him back (814.352.0206) and his name was Alex Furguson. He preceded to tell me that some companies were suing me for "check fraud" "theft by deception" and something else. For me this was believable at first bc yes, I did take out a payday loan. I explained to him that every two weeks that company takes out $60 so I didn't understand why I was being sued. He told me that I needed to settle today or settle it in court. At this point in almost in tears so I told him I'd like to settle out court. Alex then tells me that to settle I had to pay $800! I cried and said I didn't have that kind of money.. So he puts me on hold to talk to the "authorities". He comes back and says I can pay $475 to settle today and I can be done with the whole thing. So I agree.. I even go as far as giving him my debit card info and everything. By this time he's already verified my address, my job, my ss#, birthday, and my email!! After giving him my card info he then tells me I need to fax him an authorization letter with all my info on it with my drivers licese. That's where I start thinking it was a scam. Sure enough I looked up Morgan & Associates and Click Payment Services and I find scam sites. So I immediately call my bank and deactivated my card.
This was soooo scary for me. I'm a 23yr old single mom.. Giving up $400 in one day would have been tough!

All their claims are fake.
They use fake "payday loan application" websites to lure consumers into disclosing information, then try this con using the information to make them appear "legitimate". Many people who apply have also taken out other payday loans, so they try to make it appear they are collecting on some old loan.
All the collection of information, the DL, and "authorization letter" is all an act to use to intimidate you once you find out they are frauds.
If any charges show up against your card, immediately dispute them as fraudulent, and file a fraud affidavit with your bank, and file a police complaint for fraud and extortion.
They can't do anything but threaten, but if they get your card information, they will try to take your money.
