I am very disappointed with this laptop. I bought it to use as a desktop, however I found this to be impossible. This laptop is pron to overheating. The fan for the CPU is not nearly enough to cool the processor.
The sensors used for the touch-pad are too sensitive so you could have your wrists rested on the sides next to the touch-pad and it will cause the mouse to move.
The CD/DVD writer malfunctions so at times it sounds like it is grinding a CD/DVD.
Also, it seems as the two 512MB memory sticks that I have malfunction. When I ordered this laptop I asked for 1GB of RAM, Ever since the first day I got the laptop having a GB of RAM caused the computer to get a blue screen and crash, I thought it was bad RAM so I removed one stick, the crashes no longer happened so I decided to switch the sticks of RAM, the crashes didn't happen, but the moment I put both together it would crash shortly after. This caused me to have to take one of the sticks out and only use 512MB.
The side USB ports aren't too reliable, they are somewhat loose so when you plug a device into them you have to wiggle the connection a little until you're sure they make contact.
Overall, Elitegroup ECS G900 PC Notebook is not worth the money I paid.

The day the product is made and shipped from their factory, is the day teh warranty starts. So now that product sits in a warehouse, get sold, get shipped, gets delivered, and sits on a shelf until it's sold. My motherboard died 7 months into my 1 year warranty, but it was manufactured well over 1 year before I bought it. Hence no warranty, even with my invoice showing it's only 7 months old.
The company that I bought it from closed down, and ECS honors the warranty only from the day they made it. Hmmmm. Interesting way to do business.
The memory modules they put in are either defective, or not compatible with the other memory in the machine. They either need to be matched or changed for the appropriate compatible memory.
if the unit is under warranty, go back to them and leave it with them to correct. if they don't want to take it back, ask to speak to a supervisor, then a manager, and then the store owner.
PC Chips used to sell their products with 1, 2 or 3 years of warranty. PC Chips is ECS. PC Chips products don't seem to be sold anymore in North America, but still sell in Europe and Asia.
I used to sell their products for many years, but after this fiasco I refuse to buy them!
They are like Dell, crap!
