Incorrect listing
Complaint
Karen Shanklin Oakes
Country: United States
I am an office administrator for my company and have held this position for the last 8 years. I do not pose or have I ever advised any one that I am a doctor or hold any credentials thereof. However, there is incorrect information listed on;
Serviceslisted.com
Dentistanytime.com
Ibrush.com
that lists me as a doctor/dentist which I am not. I have contacted these sites and advised that this information is incorrect and needs to be changed immediately, however nothing has been done from my initial attempt.
My professional reputation is on the line as well as the reputation of my employer for these sites listing the wrong information and their unwillilngness to correct. This should be against the law.
I am highly upset and feel there should be some type of legal action that could be taken for sites like this to verify any / all information that they post on a company or individual.

Be aware that there are many "business directories" that operate by collecting "information" from who knows where, often even other similar sites or online yellow pages, propagating errors, and at some point they probably make money from small businesses paying for their listings or for ads.
Some subset of these are running fraudulent billing scams, creating the appearance of "listings", claiming they were "authorized", then fraudulently billing and harassing the targets of the schemes. These often show up with websites containing erroneous information, oftentimes years old due to the sources they are using, since creation of the appearance of some "service" is a part of this type of scam to give it some "credibility". Often the first phase of these scams is some "offer" to post "free listings", posted on various free PR sites, which down the road they "bait-and-switch" into a "free trial" that became a "renewal" they now demand you pay for, but they don't just wait around for suckers to respond to "free listing offers", they commonly construct some sort of "directory" so that they appear to be a "business". "Listings" from various sources, and lots of generic boilerplate content, possibly stolen from other sites. Other listing sites with similar website design styles show up for other professions. so they appear to be busy little beavers. "Cargo cult" business.
It's not clear who either of these sites are, whether they are aiming at some legitimate directory, or whether they will try to twist your attempt to "correct" their misinformation into some "agreement" to pay them. It may be too recent to tell, as the scams generally "age" their sites a few months before starting the shakedown phase.
