Broken lid

I purchased the Whirpool Cabrio and was just lifting the lid to put clothes in and it snapped. I looked online and there are 1,000's of complaints of this issue yet whirlpool won't replace my lid free of charge as its out of warranty. I am so angry they don't stand behind their products. With all the online complaints there is no way I just had an isolated problem. I don't know why they won't even investigate this complaint and will do nothing unless I pay full price for the new lid and the delivery and intsallation. I have never heard of a lid breaking from simply being lifted to put your wash in.....terrible product and I will never buy from the company again
