Many other complaints against that number, starting July 2, 2009. Another rogue robocalling telemarketer engaged in numerous DNC and TSR violations, many of which are being made to cell phones. Some percentage are targetted at Spanish speaking.
"marvinbrklyn - 21 hours 49 minutes ago When I answered this call I immediately heard an automated system saying that I could receive medical insurance for me and my family for $3 a day, including dental, vision. All I had to do to find out more info was press #1 on my keypad. Upon doing so I was transferred to a live male that asked if I was interested in medical insurance for myself and my family. When I responded that I was not inquiring for myself (I wanted to ask about my wife and her daughter)the phone call was immediately disconnected. I later put in the search terms "medical insurance for $3 a day." and saw results that were about a medical insurance scam."
"Lower your rates" scam. Note deceptive and fraudulent representation: "she was with my credit card company and asked if I thought I could benefit from having my credit card interest rates reduced - due to my good payment history."
This telemarketer is NOT "with" anyone's credit card company.
"exit strategy - 2 Jul 2009 Call received on my work number (a state agency). Automated call claiming to be from my credit company. Said nothing was wrong but that they needed to talk with me about possibly lowering my interest rates on my Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or some other card. Press 1 to speak with someone. Pressed 1. Someone claiming to be Eunice (no last name, no company name) said she was with my credit card company and asked if I thought I could benefit from having my credit card interest rates reduced - due to my good payment history. Never mentioned my name, their company name, Eunice's last name, exactly which credit cards. I responded that I have a non-profit debt management agency that handles reducing my interest rates and that she would need to talk with them. She then hung up on me. Caller ID: 1-800-786-4867"
"Mortgage refinance" scam, claiming in the recorded message to be from the government. Live person evaded when asked directly if she was with the government.
"Very concerned - 2 Jul 2009 Got a call from this number. Heard message about being from the government and wanting to help people who needed mortgage refinance. Person came on and said she was a finance administrator. Said she needed me to answer a bunch of questions before she transferred me over. I kept asking who she was with. She kept saying I am just a finance administrator or that she was with finance administrators. I keep saying are you with the government? - and she would not answer. Finally she gave up when I would not give any personal information. Caller: Finance Administrators"
Some calls may be random, others may be targetted based on phone listings.
"Lucy - 2 Jul 2009 Called my phone, I pressed 1 to speak to representative. She asked did I have any credit cards, called me by my first name so they are accessing phone records. Only had this phone and number for two weeks. Can't reach number. Hung up when I said I had no credit cards."
