this number calls my house, doesn't leave a message, and when I call it back states if you want to be on our do not call list press 1....then it just disconnects you. Is this one of those hoaxes that by pressing 1 you give them permission to charge calls to your line?

Looks like this number just started showing up in complaints a couple days ago.
Reports of two entirely unrelated sales pitches tied to the same number indicate this is a telemarketing call center. Note report of deceptive telemarketing pitching "lower your rates".
"Health insurance" may be a similar scam.
It is likely that all telemarketing tied to this number is similarly deceptive.
"LC - 26 Jan 2010 I answered it. It's about healthcare insurance for $3 a day. Automated message, only one option - press 1 for more information. I'll call them back and get on their do not call list. How do they even get my number?"
"consumer1 - 11 hours 21 minutes ago I received a call from 6036064277. They said they were calling from my credit card company about my offer to lower my rate and that if I didn't press 1, then they would be forced to put me at the higher rate. So, I pressed 1. Next, I asked them which of my credit card companies they were with, she said all of them! OK, now it's a marketing call. I told I didn't want anything from their company.
