Main Bearings seized up after 14 months!

We purchased the front loader Maytag 3000 series washing machine from lowes, within 14 months, right out of the 1 year factory warranty, The bearings on the main shaft for the tub started grinding and froze up completely burning up the shaft and ruining the entire assembly. The cost in parts was roughly $680 and it was not covered under warranty! Maytag wouldn't do anything for us despite being less than 2 months out of warranty! We bought a new LG washing machine, top loader and had no issues since. It was cheaper to replace than to fix the Maytag! They are junk, this is a very common problem we found out afterwards, they should be recalled! Junk, absolute JUNK!

    This bearing problem seems to be a HUGE issue! I've bought only Maytag appliances all of my adult life. The I have three major appliances right now. The Fridge I bought (Maytag) had to have the ice machine replaced 5 times!!, within the first month before they got one that worked!! The water dispenser quit within the 1st year! had repaired, broke after warranty. tough luck! The repair guy said that this is a 'common' problem!! Keeps him in work i guess! Now my washer, bought 2-9-2010 sounds like a jet airplane taking off on the spin cycle!! called no help, tough luck spend another $600.- $800 to fix! RIGHT! No more Maytag/Whirlpool appliances for me!! Maytag has lost its reputation as quality product. Think I will try LG!
