refund on cancelled membership

I was a long time member of Bally Fitness in the Milwaukee, WI area. When the club was bought by Blast I stopped using the club. Two days ago I looked in my checking account and found they had auto withdrew another years membership dues of $240. I never got any notice that my original contract had automatically transferred to Blast including auto pay. This happened without me ever seeing a Blast contract let alone sighning or agreeing to one.
I was instructed to send an email to ABCs cutomer care asking them to cancel my account.  I was told that I was on the hook for dues 30 days after the cancellation. I suppose that will mean 2 months after they process everything.
