Price Gouging at A & E Factory

A & E Factory Service,a nationwide provider for Kitchenaid appliances, should  not be recommended by its suppliers. I called them to have two panels replaced on my side-by-side KithenAid refrigerator. They quoted me a price of $65 for the service call and told that I will be charged for the workman time extra. The service man came and had the panels replaced in 5 minutes. He billed me for $200! I was shocked to see this price. I think they should be obligated to give a more realistic price quote before the service.

A&E did not show up for their scheduled appt.  After calling, they said they were waiting on a part and would come by in a week.  How can they order a part when they haven't even been to my house to diagnose the problem???  Spent an hour on the phone with no satisfaction.  How can I get paid for my time off?  Am sitting at home now waiting for a different company to fix my dishwasher.  I am really fed up with how repair services can get by with giving you a 4 hour time frame as to when they will show up.  Fortunately, I have an understanding employer; however, I resent having to use vacation hours to wait on repairmen.

Well I had excellent service by my appliance tech.  After 38 years as an HVAC contractor with techs in my trucks doing similar representation for the customer, I can tell you that not all service techs are not at the top of their game until after a few good years of experience.  I have also learned that they benefit most from patient customers who understand that only Jesus is perfect.
Solution:  Call the tech back, they usually leave their cell phone number, and politely tell them you still have a problem.   How hard is that?

At the end of the day, local repair business cannot handle the volume of work, that a national provider (A&E Factory Service) can and does on a daily basis.  Manufacturers are smart, they don't want you (the consumer) to fix their products.  They want you to replace them.  There are many problems (valid) with the way the system works, but there are also a lot of hard working people, giving 100% everyday to meet your expectations.  Recognizing the product you purchased was expensive, your time is valuable, and you want it fixed immediately, these people do their best.  However, everyone (including all of you and me) make mistakes.  The difference is we don't get our errors broadcast across cyberspace.  Those of you without sin cast the first stone!!

I have read all of these complaints written by so many people,  I am a former MAYTAG repair man, yes the one that never has has anything to fix!!  That use to bevery true when I worked for MAYTAG,,  However working or A&E is a real pain in the butt,  the rules change daily and and training is almost nil with this company,  I have been doing this line of work for 15 years,  do not blame the tech for your problems, blame the company itself, it will not spend any money other seeing how much time each tech lets their truck idle,  they want us to turn off our trucks a stop lights  even now...

Our Maytag dryer broke three times in fourteen months. A & E came out each time, and replaced a thermostat, saying the cause was a blocked vent, even though they looked at the vent from the outside of the house and it was free from obstructions.  A & E wouldn't look at the vent where it attaches to the dryer because that would require moving the dryer, which could damage the floors.  Each time, A & E informed us that it was their policy not to move appliances that could result in floor damage.  So I checked the vent and found there was no obstruction.  On the last repair, the A & E technician had on his work order to call Maytag to speak with their technicians but he refused, even after my wife told him to do it twice.  Before, leaving, the A& E technician informed my wife that there was not enough air flow in the dryer, due to the obstruction, and it would continue to break unless we cleaned out the vent, and then he left.  Imagine our rage when he said it isn't really fixed and said good bye.  $600 of repairs to a 14 month old $700 dryer...and it isn't fixed yet.    And now the kicker-- Maytag said they could have given us a new dryer had the A & E technician called Maytag like he was supposed to.  Thanks A & E.  We are filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and have contacted Maytag on numerous occasions informing them that they do not fix the problem the first time and are costing Maytag money with each visit.  Maytag...please stop using A & E!

Similar poor experience with A&E a refrigerator repair: inexperienced technician and the worst customer service experience:

    1. The technician didn't see to know much. He kept making excuses to go back to his truck where he made phone calls (I can only assume to get help)

    2. He claimed the controller board was bad and ordered the part. It turned out not to be the problem

    3. When the part finally arrived after three weeks, called to male an appointment for the installation, but was told that they don;t have any technician available for another 12 days!

    4. Ended up calling another company who fixed the problem in one hour wit no part replacement needed!

I learned my lesson the hard way...

Had an appointment with A&E on August 27th, tech comes says part needed for LG TROMM Washer Control Panel not working. Tech says, Part should be here in a few days, call me on my cell phone, I don't live far away, I can come back to put it on, also call A&E and let them know part arrived to get an earlier return appointment to put part on. I call the tech and A&E, suddenly nobody is available, no earlier appointments available, trucks not in my area at all til 18th of September. Ok, so I stick with the appointment that the Tech made when he ordered the part.I stay home from 12-5:35p.m. because my window was 1-5 for service tech to arrive. I start calling A&E at 4:50 because the tech has not arrived and I wanted to see what his eta was and I wanted to speak with a supervisor to get the appointment scheduled as a priority for the next morning. I get hung up on 3 times, I get put on hold for 30 minutes at least 3 times by 6 representatives of this company. Finally I get an older sounding lady that apparently had made it past high school, born in America and she finally transferred me to a supervisor that tells me the notes on the account say that the tech showed up to my house at 5:45 and no one was there! Well duh! That is what i had been trying to inform all of them of! So ultimately the so called supervisor was just like I guess he's gone home now, I say Ok without doing his job and that is ok with you, that I did my part and he did not do his. Now I have to wait another 8 days for a service appointment that was not my fault that I was not at home. Pretty Much YES was her answer. WOW! Just Beware, as their techs are always late no matter what window you have and they always come with a Ridiculous song and dance, but don't fix a darn thing! This is the 3rd time on the same washer, same problem, different techs saying different parts needed for the same washer! REALLY!

    Another Bad Experience
Seems like there is a common theme with A&E Factory Service having poor service when it comes to timeliness.  I was told A&E would be at my home to repair the dishwasher between 1 and 5 p.m. today.  I called at 11:30 a.m. to confirm this would still be the case and was told the technician would be there between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. and probably closer to 2:00 p.m.  At 4:40 p.m. still no technician, so I called a second time to find out if they were still coming and I was told yes, I would be next and will be receiving a call from the technician soon.  At 5:30 p.m. I received a call from the service center (not the technician) that he would not be coming and if I would like to reschedule for the next day.  I find this very disappointing behavior and unprofessional given I myself took off work today to be available and am having to take off more time from work tomorrow.  Furthermore, the repair issue is with a water leak on the dishwasher making this an urgent situation.  Water damage from the dishwasher is getting worse and cannot be addressed until the dishwasher has been repaired and/or removed.

I have experienced similar dissatisfaction as expressed by the posts here.

I believe they have a scam as a business model. In other words, Scamming IS their business....perfectly legal.

has anyone sued this company?  I'm getting ready to go to court and was wondering if anyone had success and if so how they got judgement awarded.  And do you know who A & E banks with?
