I received a text in February about a $200 gas voucher and I naively became excited about it because I wanted to give the gas money to my mother as a gift. So I stupidly called the number. Long story short, I stupidly gave them my information. I NEVER received the gas voucher. They charged me a couple of times until I realized that this whole s**t was BU***HIT and changed my card number so they wouldn't be able to charge me any more.  Since, I've still been receiving unwanted magazines in the mail.
NOW they are saying I owe a lot of money to them and that if I don't pay it, the amount will go into "collections." Should I believe that? What I'm worried about is if this will effect my credit...but I don't no if they're lying either. What should I do? What should I believe?

I have been on the phone with them for hours today.  They keep hanging up on me.  I changed my debit card number over 6 months ago because of all these random charges (almost $100/month) I did not authorize.  I was buying stuff online then, so idk if they hacked my info, but I never heard about gas cards.

Anyway, I got a bill in the mail today for $1637.95 for the past months they have not had my card number.  In these past 6 months, I have thrown every single stupid magazine in the trash as soon as I brought my mail into the house.  Before I changed my card number, I tried returning them to the post office, and they said they couldn't do anything about it because there was no return address, so they just threw them away.

The supervisor in billing's name is Danielle.  You all can tell her she is stupid and incompetent and a filthy LIAR for me.  I asked to speak to her supervisor when she proved her incompetency.  She told me they were all busy and didn't want to talk to me anyway with the way I was acting.  Five minutes later, I found out SHE was actually the supervisor and was the only one.  They weren't all busy, she just is part of a scam.

They put holds on my account so I couldn't call the main company and cancel my subscription.  No one would help me.  Danielle, her co-worker Ashley, and one other girl hung up on me several times, told me I was unprofessional, and asked "How old are you???" I told them "None of your damn business, I have a Bachelor's, a Master's, and your on the other end of this phone."  I think they just tried everything they could to make me mad and divert my attention away from the real problem: I DON'T WANT ANY STUPID MAGAZINES AND I'M NOT PAYING YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!

So everyone be prepared to deal with hell if they EVER get ANY of your account information.

And they told me they have a voice recording of me authorizing them to do all that but couldn't play it back for me at that time.  They said someone would call and play it so I could hear it.  I was on the phone with them so long and so many times, they probably took my words and switched them into saying I authorized it.  They are all worthless and remorseless.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO STOP THIS ASAP.  I am in the same situation.  I too have talked to "Danielle".   My situation started around July, 2011 when I dialed my credit card company (Chase) to get some info.  When that number rang a foreign voice came on and wanted my name and to confirm my account number.  Thinking that I was talking to a Chase rep - I gave it to him. Then he started this spiel about a $200.00 gas card and $25.00 gift card, etc, etc.  I couldn't understand what he was saying and I told him I wanted to talk to someone in the customer service  dept.  He said that line was busy and continued on talking.  I told him I could not understand him (even though I was saying "Yes" to some of his promptings) and wanted to talk to someone that I could understand.  He transferred me to yet another man that I couldn't understand.  I told him that I didn't want any of their offers and he said it was too late that I was already in the system.  That I would receive a package with all of the benefits and there would be a number I could call to cancel.  A few days later I received a call from Chase regarding some charges on my account and did I authorize them  I told them I did not authorize them so they, in turn, reversed those charges. I kept trying to call the numbers that were next to the cc charges and never did anyone answer. For 4 months charges were on my account - and thankfully Chase reversed them.  I have been receiving about 5 magazines each month - Glamour, Parenting, Maxim, ESPN, INC , etc.  I am an 81 year old woman - do you think I want (or need) these magazines.  I give them away.  Now this past Wed., I receive a letter from Central Rewards saying I owe them $119.85 for failure to meet my payment obligations and to call 877-350-0550 to make payment arrangements.  I called and got "Danielle".
I argued with her about this and she was very combative with me that this would go into collections and I would have to pay legal fees plus the monthly charges for 5 years.  I told her I would call her back.     Please tell me how I can stop this - if you have been successful in stopping it.  Greatly appreciated!!

        Stop talking with them.

they are a fraudulent telemarketer, and they are using 800 numbers 1 digit different from major US banks, insurance companies, and utility companies to intercept dialing errors and con Americans.

No alleged "contract" is valid, due to deception, fraud, or duress.
They are swindlers and scammers, nothing more.

Dispute all charges as fraudulent, and block any card numbers or close accounts to prevent further theft.

Found magazine charges on my credit card I didn't make. Called the credit card company and they cancelled the card. The fraudulent charges are being removed. My credit card fraud department is taking care of this.

    Angry at Foolishness
They just called me saying that I had won a $500 gift card to Walmart or Target and asked me to pay $4.95 for shipping. It sounded fishy to me. I asked why I should pay that amount for shipping a card that sounds awfully high and stated that I had not entered any contest. The man with the Indian accent just kept talking over me. I asked him the name of his company and he told me Central Rewards. I googled the name immediately and found this site warning about them. I knew it was a scam. I told him to not send anything to my address and asked him to place me on the do not call list and he just kept talking over me. I warned him that if he called me again after I had asked him to place me on the do not call list that it was illegal. I had to tell him this over and over until he finally hung up on me. If something sounds too good to be true it no doubt is. Be very careful and beware especially at this time of year. The scam artist are everywhere and they are making a killing! Never give your credit card number, social security number or birthday over the phone. They can take you for everything your worth.

They tried me today.  Said since I shopped at Walmart, Best Buy, and Target I had won a 500.00 dollar voucher.  All they wanted was $1.00 on my card today.  They lied and said that they had my card # and that it starts with 4.  Duh, I think all visa cards start with 4.  I said no and hung up.  SCAM!  How are they getting my info, I wonder???

I got called Wed about the walmart 500 card. I asked them to call back and after explaining all I'd ever pay was the 4.95 activation fee, when I got the card they demanded my cc info and vcode. I sadi " no effing way" I got Apu(from the simpsons) and when I said "dude I know english isnn't you #1 language but listen...find another sucker" He then refused the understand anything I said. Finally I threated with Ganesh, cow torture, the BBB and the AG and Apu agreed to put me on the do not call list. What b@st@rds! No such thing as a free lunch!
    Buyers Beware!
    Dawn, OK
