My closed account has been hijacked by a thief

Naturally I was no longer interested in retaining Verizon as a cell phone provider, being that every other month there were text/call messages on my account I did not make. It was an ongoing problem with them. So I failed to pay the bill in order for them to close my account.
What happen? What happened is some thief hijacked my account right after account was supposed to be closed. Verizon claims billed was paid in full when I didnt pay the bill (they sent confirmation)
I SAID CLOSE THE ACCOUNT VERIZON!!!!! Verizon has not closed the account, and refuses to do so---
Whats pathetic is Verizon allows customers ID to be stolen by THIEF and they could careless if you are exploited.
