I requested a free credit report on the web page of my Discover account.  I did not want membership with Privacy Matters.  They have charged my credit card $29.95 twice with additional payments of $1.00 and $2.00.  I have disputed the charges with my credit card company.

Dispute fraudulent charges immediately through your bank, under FRB Reg. E for checking accounts or FCBA for credit cards, and close your account or block your card number due to fraud to prevent additional fraudulent charges.  Your bank can reverse fraudulent charges showing on statements dated up to 60 days earlier than your original date of dispute.

Follow up to your bank dispute with a written dispute or fraud affidavit sent to your bank's dispute address, and file a fraud and theft complaint with your local police, FTC, your state Attorney General, and at www.ic3.gov.

Since it appears they are marketing in concert with Discover, be sure to follow through with the written fraud dispute, mailed certified for proof of notification of Discover.  With comarketing arrangements between shady companies and banks, often the banks try to cover up or assist the fraudulent marketer.  If you have problems with your bank accepting or handling the dispute, file a complaint against the bank with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, at www.occ.gov
