Extended Warranty

We received a notification in the mail that looked legitimate.  It was from CarSafe.  It referenced an Owners ID #: EVL-118-6943 for our .  It stated the make, model and year of our Acura.  It requested for: "Request for Immediate Action - Time Sensitive Material Encloded".  It also stated "Service Contract Notice - This is not a Bill".

The call to action was: "Call 866-364-3336 to Extend Your Vehichle's Coverage".

We called, and spoke to an individual that would not provide his last name, or phone number extention.  He was extremely pushy, and almost insisted that we sign up for the extended warranty immediately.  When we would not sign up, he became belligerent.  We hung up the phone and called our local Acura dealership.  They had no idea who this came from, and cautioned us that is was more than likely a scam!

I received the same notice on my 2008 camry, when I choose not to purchase the 3500 dollar policy the sales person became very upset and asked why I called if I was not prepared to purchase their policy.  I said, I called because, I thought it may have been a Toyota recall issue and that the notice was market urgent.  As with your experience, the sales person was extremely rude....I should have had the good sense to hang up...ended up on the phone for over 45 mininutes.  But I am happy to say, I did not purchase their warranty!!!!

I am having trouble getting a refund back from Car Safe.  I was pushed into making a quick decision to buy the auto insurance, but the very same night, I knew it was a mistake.  So I called back to cancel, but the office was closed.  I called back the very next business day, and requested the warranty be canceled and my money refunded to my credit card.  It been almost two weeks and no money.  I called back to verify the cancellation, the representative confirmed the cancellation, but couldn't give me any solid information regarding the refund.  I am very concerned that I may never see my money again.  Dealing with this company was a big mistake!

Ditto from the respond received from cclark.  But mine was for a Nissan.  Where do these company (scammers) get a hold of our personal information/lives???  I am definately throwing this notice out!!! Even though the co (Carsafe) maybe legit, well according to these respondants from this site...your administrative staff needs basic 101 customer service training...this does not help at all...

I've never had a notice from Carsafe but I got one from a company called Vurge. They were actually really nice and I didn't feel pressured to buy the warranty. They even gave me a few days to look over the policy before I made a decision. If you need a warranty I would recommend calling Vurge.

These guys are predatory marketers - just shred their direct mail pieces and remember the name as "CarUnSafe" - they prey on vulnerable consumers via threatening direct mail pieces sent to new car buyer and use car buyer lists - they are snake oil salesmen of the lowest order, in spite of their effort to appear reasonable. Just do a search on "CarSafe scam" and watch the results.
