I wish that I had investigated this company more fully. I am kicking myself for being sucked in to this deal...They seemed to have a lot of information about my car and said that they were affiliated with Chrysler warranty services. They even had me go to their website to check out their company. They are total liars, running a scam. They got me on their warranty where they talk about internally lubricated parts...they said that the transmission failed due to the lack of lubrication to the torque converter. This is a part that is internal and cannot be lubricated. The transmission failed due to faulty parts. My dealership service department could not believe how this company does business. I have learned a very expensive lesson.

"they were affiliated with Chrysler warranty services"

Why don't you contact Chrysler's legal department and find out for certain if they lied?  Then you can let them know they are violating their trademark by misrepresenting that they are affiliated with them.  Scammer commonly wrap themselves in someone else's legitimacy to close the sale.

"They even had me go to their website to check out their company"

Slick website.  Looks professional.  Websites can say anything, and next week whatever they said could disappear.

"they talk about internally lubricated parts...they said that the transmission failed due to the lack of lubrication to the torque converter. This is a part that is internal and cannot be lubricated"

Makes them sound like they know what they are talking about.  Cars have oil, in both their crankcases, their transmissions, and their differentials. Duh.  Internal and cannot be lubricated?  That is a crock.  Only some bearings are internally lubricated, and they are long life.  For a torque converter to not have oil, your automatic transmission would have to lose all it's oil.  A torque converter works on oil.  It is a form of hydrodynamic fluid coupling.  Fix any leaks, and change your transmission oil and filter as per manufacturing recommendations.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque_converter

And having given you that horror story about how your car is about to fall apart, does their "warranty" even cover what they implied it would protect you against?   Or is there some clause burried in the contract that gives them an out, that you will only find out about once you have to make a claim?

Sounds like they fed you a line of bull, found you were a sucker that could be conned, and took you for a couple grand.  That is mostly what "auto warranty" scammers do.

Where exactly are they located?  Their website shows a building, but I can't find an address anywhere, and why would a legitimate company NOT put their address on their website?  That is not a good sign.

This shows up, placing them in Florida.  That is also not a good sign, as Florida is a center for much telemarketing fraud.

Contact FTC and the Florida Attorney General.

FTC sued several "auto warranty" scammers who were both violating the Do Not Call list and engaging in fraudulent telemarketing, when Sen. Schumer got pissed at receiving their calls.  The Missouri Attorney General sued several located in Missouri a couple years ago.

Some of these "auto warranty" scammers have been sued by attorneys general and may be subject to settlement agreements.  You might as well find out if they are one of them.

These also show up on BBB.

If this is the same outfit, supposedly they are a BBB member and respond to complaints through BBB.  Be aware, there may be a reason they joined BBB.

This also shows up.  Las Vegas, like south Florida, is also a center of telemarketing fraud.  No Rating as yet.

Other problems can happen if the "warranty company" you are paying goes bust.

Ann Beatty’s warranty problem involved two other firms. North American Warranty Solutions, a Florida marketing firm, called her last summer and sold her what she thought was a straight-forward extended warranty on her BMW.

On Aug. 15, Beatty paid the marketing firm $2,115 for a “Great Choice” extended warranty that would cover her car for 84 months and 100,000 more miles. She got a package in the mail from Consumer Direct Warranty Services with documents detailing the coverage and two little brown tablets — an additive she was supposed to put in her car’s cooling system.

Beatty ignored the tablets and assumed all was well with her policy. Then in February she

got a letter from Consumer Direct saying her warranty was canceled due to nonpayment.

Consumer Direct officials said they canceled Beatty’s and other consumers’ warranties after the marketing firm went out of business without forwarding payment. The marketing firm’s phone number has been disconnected and its officials couldn’t be reached for comment.

In March, Beatty called the Georgia insurance department and was referred to the Governor’s Office of Consumer Affairs.

Last week, after Spotlight began reporting, Beatty’s case was sent back to the insurance department. Late Wednesday, Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine said he opened a criminal investigation after reviewing the documents sent to Beatty by Consumer Direct.

“We believe … they have issued a contract of insurance and that they are an unauthorized insurer in the state of Georgia,” Oxendine said. If that’s true, it’s a felony, he said. Firms offering extended warranties or service contracts in Georgia need to be either licensed insurance companies or be backed by insurance companies, he said, and there’s no indication Consumer Direct is either.

Rob Chapman, Consumer Direct’s president and CEO, did not respond to calls and e-mails for comment on the investigation. Denis Kenny, an attorney for the firm, said in an e-mail Thursday he objected to the AJC reporting anything about Oxendine’s investigation because the insurance department hadn’t returned his calls inquiring about it.

During an interview earlier in the week, Chapman said his company would reinstate Beatty’s policy along with those of 55 other consumers who purchased policies through the defunct marketing firm.

Beatty would like her money back, but Chapman says the best he can do is restore her warranty since his firm never got paid.

Oxendine said he suspects Consumer Direct is sending the tablets as a way of skirting insurance regulation, attempting to exploit exemptions in the law for firms that warranty products they manufacture. The tablets, which Consumer Direct makes, can’t possibly provide protection for all auto parts covered by the firm’s contract, Oxendine said.
