This is the worst insurance. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AS YOU WILL END UP PAYING FOR THE PREMIUM AS WELL AS YOUR INCURRED LOSS. Our flight was cancelled by the airlines for operational reason and we missed our 2 day stay in London on way to Jordan and ended up absorbing cost of pre-paid hotel and tour. Although we had no control over the situation, the insurance we purchased will not cover our costs. Additionally, we never received a copy of the policy or we would not have bought it in the first place. Such a scam and to top it all off, everyone on their staff is arrogant because they know they have you.

    Sounds like my situation. I never received a policy or even an option about coverage.
    I am preparing to take them to court. Would you provide me with a statement of what happened to you to take to court?
    I am furious because this is outright fraud if they do not provide you with information at time of purchase.
    Also, I have already contacted the Insurance Commissioner in Los Angeles. Please do the same.

    Just to confirm others comments, Mercury Travelguard insurance is terrible. Even though it was all over the news in 2012 (a simple google news search) that my airline was on strike and so cancelled my flight, they denied my claim. They wanted documentation from the airline saying they were on strike and other nonsense proof that regular people cant obtain. Avoid them!
