tearing holes n clothes and sheets

I bought Whirlpool because it is made in the USA. WOW and I am sorry I bought Whirlpool. Every other load the agitator pulls an item in under it and the item becomes stuck. Large load or small load it does not matter. I hate this machine. It has ruined two sets of sheets and they were brand new sets.
How do they get away with a terrible product problem like this? When I looked across the web, I see this has been a problem with Whirlpool for ten years.
