Repeated calls looking for a relative who does not live with me.

I keep getting calls from this colection agency asking to speak to my son Kevin. I keep telling the callers that he does not live at this address or in this city and to please stop calling me. They claim they will remove my phone number , but the calls continue.

Some of the callers have been rude and disrespectful and I have gotten multiple calls on the same day. I consider this harrasment and want the calls to stop. I have given them his addressyet they continue to call.

    Notify them in writing, in a letter sent certified return receipt requested, that they cannot reach the person they are trying to contact at your address or phone number, that they already have an accurate address, and that they are to cease contacting and harassing you.  

    If, after you verify their receipt of your letter, they continue their harassing calls, log each call as to date, time, and any abusive behavior, and notify them on each call that you have already demanded that they cease communications as provided for in FDCPA.  If their abusive calling continues, notify the caller that the call is being recorded, and record it for possible use against them in court.

    file complaints with FTC, your state AG, and their state AG.  You can also sue them for violations of FDCPA, either using an attorney with expertise in this area, or yourself in local small claims court.

    They will either cease, or you will be prepared to sue under FDCPA.
