withdrawal from my account
Complaint
Nancy Stoughton
Country: United States
I did not authorize this company to take money from my account. When I contacted them they would not give me any information because she said it was in my sons name. I told her his name is not on my account and I wanted to know what this was for. All she would tell me was that it was cancelled. I want my money back from this company.

To protect your checking account, and preserve your federal Reg. E dispute rights, immediately contact your bank to dispute unauthorized charges and close the account to prevent future fraudulent withdrawls. Follow up with a dispute letter sent to the dispute address indicated on you checking account statement. This must be received by your bank within 60 days of the statement date of the statement showing the disputed charges to fall under Reg. E.
Once you establish a new checking account number, use your checks ONLY for payments to companies you know and trust, such as rent, mortgage, utilities, credit cards, etc. Do NOT use debit or check cards, and cancel any you have since they represent a security risk. Never provide you checking account number for payments by phone. Use only credit cards for all retail, on-line, or phone order payments, since they are less disruptive to your finances and credit if you have to cancel them due to fraudulent use.
There are many complaints of deceptive billing against the company behind this and other "membership club" names. Here is one:
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/290/RipOff0290437.htm
They appear to be offering credit reports for a small amount, thereby getting consumers' account information, and later claiming the consumer has signed up for some "membership" when $30 charges start showing up each month. Regardless of whether they disclose the "membership" and cancellation terms somewhere on their website, it appears that many consumers are unaware that they are enrolling in a "membership" with ongoing charges when they accept what they think is a low cost credit report offer.
freecreditreports.com got nailed by FTC, TWICE, for engaging in similar deceptive advertising.
It may be worth reviewing with your son whether he made any on-line purchases, either of a credit report, or anything else. When they claimed this, what information did they even have on your son? They may even have gotten your account information via some order you or he legitimately placed, but with another on-line merchant.
"Membership" companies have been reported to obtain billing information as a side effect of what consumers assumed was a simple purchase of some other product. They often claim that some "check mark" somewhere acknowledged that the consumer was also ordering their product, but the complaint forums are filled with similar complaints of unauthorized and fraudulent charges that consumers never knowingly agreed to. The merchant passing on the account information has an incentive to make as many "sales" as possible, as he is probably paid for each one.
The "membership club" often claims the consumer "agreed" to the charges, but they also often claim they "don't know" what company they got the billing information from. These incentives, with supposedly no tracability back to the originating merchant, and the "membership" company denying any responsibility, create ideal conditions for encouraging fraud and deception.
It all smells of planned fraud, and several of these companies have been slapped down by FTC and several state AGs.

Advertisement said try a sample of Hoodia Cut for 14 days free, only pay shipping and handling. Not that you will be billed after the order date of 14 days.
On the 11th of August, yesterday, I recived a 30 day supply and billed for it.
When contacting the phone # on the bottle this is the information I got.
No refund for shipped products.
The man I spoke to today said his name was Leo, The Customer Care Supervisor on the floor.
I explained that I had moved and that the product did not work. I wanted a refund for the 30 day supply I just recived and to issue a return merchandise order number so I could return the unopened product.
He said they do not do returns. Only cancellations.
I asked to speak with his supervisor, he said it would do no good. I stated that I would like to talk to someone else in the company to verify this, he transfered me to the Shipping Manager (Keith).
I spoke to Keith, he said that they do not give refunds but would cancell my order.
I asked why I could not talk to The Manager, (Keith) said that the Product Manager does not talk on the phone with customers because he handles other products as well. What ever that means.
I guess I was lucky to speek to Keith or Leo, I am sure they handle other products there as well as the Hoodia-Cut.
I confirmed my address & phone number with (Keith) & asked for the Product Manager (Terri) to call me to discuss my complaint and my refund.
I feel I will be waiting for a long time to get any help.
I hope I get help with this issue.
Until then, I will make as much noise as I can in an effort to get satisfaction.

If anyone has a solution please let me know. Maybe a class action law suit?
Thanks for the ear.
