vital records said my dad's last name was spelled Leif and my ID read my last name as Lief.

My uncle changed our family last name from Leif to Lief many years ago. My original birth certificate read Lief and Vital Records sent me by US mail they cannot process my birth certificate because of this misspelled last name.
