we visited Palm Springs store ..sales pitch included fact that this store is the only one in area and would be very convenient to do our shopping...we had a hard time even getting a card and on to internet....within 6 weeks the store was closed...the nearest store is 75 miles away...we cannot shop on the internet because we cannot find products we want....poorly presented I am sure I have no chance of getting back $3400 although we'll never be able to use the services...there would be no savings,...travel shipping and taxes. It is obvious they knew they would be closing.  How dishonest is that?

File fraud complaints with FTC and the California Attorney General.

If possible, dispute their charges through your bank, who may be able to reverse them if disputed within 60 days of the statement date of the statement showing the charges.  You may be able to do this under FRB Reg. E or FCBA, due to deceptive and fraudulent misrepresentation.

There may also be class action lawsuits filed against this company.

Direct buy is a complete scam. I got scammed in April 2010 at Direct Buy Brighton, MI by Perry the sales liar and Jeffrey the liar in chief/Manager. I was laughed at basically and told tough luck you’re stuck with your membership as we do not do refunds. I have never set foot back inside and will not use my membership. These people will burn in hell on judgment day. I'm sure if they attend church they will burst into flames. The business is poorly run. They have to call manufacturers and beg for better prices every time you want to buy something. They can't keep their books up to date or the website. Savings are truly about 10%-15% on average for quality goods and then most charge 10-20% freight and your items get shipped to Direct Buy warehouse NOT to your house. Manufacturers only sell items that are lower quality and not selling at retail stores, which means, you can't buy the quality items you want. The whole concept is based on a lie and the people working there have no moral compass.

Well, were do I start with Direst Buy of Tucson AZ.  I'll start by saying my wife and I have never been under so much pressure to buy a membership at a store.  No only did the store in Tucson pull us into their grip, but they started to pummle us with reason after reason on why we should spend our good money without taking a day or two to think about such a large investment. Not only that, our salesman in Tucson (Jim) was only able to provided a small book of items.  Problem with the small magizine they provided was there prices were only on small items.  Appliances and anything of significant value had to be price checked by Jim.  This is not good enough for the money you pay to join this scam.  A legit business should never need to push so hard for money.  My recommendation is you disregard there crud Direct Buy give you about buying retail and save your money.  Shop for sales like we plan to do and definitely use Lowes for much of your interior and exterior needs. Believe me you will be much happier doing that, than you could ever be buying a 7000 dollars Direct Buy membership card.  Good Luck Fellow Consumers

Direct Buy of Tucson, for the last few years, has been mainly interested in getting new members rather than giving service to people who are already members.  They act too busy to help you if you're already a member.

We just got a card in the mail for a free iPad or something like that. All we have to do is listen to their pitch, make more than $50K a year, and that's it!  Well, after reading these posts, I realize they are a scam!

    Big Brother is Here
Got a "Happy Birthday" letter in the mail from Direct Buy of Tucson that promised a free touchpad and a $100 restaurant dining card if I would set up an appointment to come in for a presentation. The fact that I do have a birthday coming up and that I have never done business with this company, really freaked me out. How do they know these things? Then, when I noticed all the negative remarks on the Internet about their scams, I decided to call to simply ask to be removed from their mailing list. However, no one answered the number, so I simply hung up. Within 10 seconds, they called back and started explaining on my answering machine that they obviously missed my call to sign up. When I picked up the phone during the middle of their message, I talked to a live person who refused to answer my simply question of where they got my address and name and other personal information. When I said I wanted to be removed from their mailing list, the representative said okay and then did not ask for my mailing address. When I asked why, she said they had both my phone number and address, which is interesting as we have a private number that we do not give out. And once I mentioned the reports on the Internet about this company being a scam, she got very snippy and then hung up. Thus, there are so many red flags here that it should be obvious to everyone that you need to stay away from these people. Far, far away!

Received a call from the Tucson store recently; there was a lot of background noise as if the person calling was riding around in a car. Despite never going to this store or doing any sort of search on them before, they somehow have my phone number. I hung up before the guy could start his pitch, but I thought it strange that this business would be calling me (and from someplace so noisy too) out of the blue to sell me [***] I don't want.
