When you buy a ticket with Spirit, they offer to you insurance protection for travel delays, baggage delays and trip cancellations. after that, you land in the TRAVEL GUARD CHARTIS INSURANCE web-page, and you buy the policy for each ticket that you purchased. Later around you have a 3 hours departure delay and you call the insurance company. " SHAME ON YOU" the insurance only cover expenses like drinks, sandwich and hotels. Who the heck goes to a hotel for a 3 hours delay? after that you go and review the policy and guess what? they do not supply the whole or right information about coverage. IS A GREAT BUSINESS...They make you believe that you are covered, but. When you call to open a claim is just for sandwiches and drinks and of course a HOTEL if you make it in those 3 hours.

In my brief research on travel insurance, it looks like it's supposed to cover you for trip cancellations, baggage delays, medical expenses, etc., like you said. But if you just had a 3-hour delay, you wouldn't be looking for any of those things, would you? Actually seems quite generous of them to refund you for food and drinks if you were just hanging out for three hours!
