I recently left Direct TV, I had been a loyal customer since July of 2001 and became dissapointed with Customer Service and with the Cancelation department. I paid 136 dollars a month in service and all I wanted was to disconnect an HD DVR that has not worked for almost a year. I called them up and some rude none customer service person told me that if I disconnected the receiver I had to return it, despite paying 299 dollars for it at Best Buy in March of 2007. The Lady indicated that the DVR was leased and that if I did not return it I would incur an additional charge of 299 dollars. After transferring me from department to department, these rude, ill mannered people could not resolve my issue. So instead of letting me disconnect a $10 dollar monthly service, they lost 136 dollars a month of my money. I will gladly go to another service provider, I know they do not need my money since they have 50 million subscribers, but what angers me more than anything was the last thing the Lady said to me. "when you decide to come back to Direct TV will charge you a modest return fee and installation."
