It does not worth my time

I signed up for a checking and saving account at the Bank of America last fall, (October 2006). In February I decided to close the accounts because my company moved me and the nearest BOA branch was not on my way to anything. I called the bank and closed the accounts over the phone. A week later I got my confirmation and a check with the account balance.
Due to my relocation my mail reached me weeks later. I was surprised to see a bill from BOA. I thought the account was closed, at least according to the letter I received. Apparently, this was not the case. Bank of America continued to keep this account open, even after I my request to close it. They also continued charging me a fee for not using the account.
I went to a BOA branch, and refused to close my account before I pay the fees. I explained that I already requested the account to be closed months ago. She said she does not see my request. It was already taking too much of my time, so I left the bank. I hope to resolve this, but I don't want to have any business with BOA in the future. It does not worth my time.

File a written complaint against BofA with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Include in your complaint the original date the account was closed, and the dates on your confirmation and check you received after closing, to establish when this was done, and that BofA's records should be showing this. Also include in your complaint that they are now refusing to close the account they had confirmed they had already closed, unless you pay more fees.
