They fit the pattern of a number of "discount membership" scams, that often get consumer account information from other merchants, using deceptive "authorizations".  The Senate Commerce Committee held hearings last year on consumer fraud by such companies, and the New York Attorney General is investigating such cramming companies and their marketing partners for consumer fraud.

Immediately contact your bank to dispute fraudulent charges, and block the card number or close the account due to fraud to prevent additional fraudulent charges.

Your bank can reverse fraudulent charges under FRB Reg. E for EFT charges like ACH or debit card charges to your checking account, or under FCBA for credit card charges, but only if you dispute promptly, generally within 60 days of the statement date of the statement showing the disputed charges.  In addition, VISA and MasterCard have "Zero liability for fraud" policies, so if these were charged to a debit or credit card by them, they should fully reverse, but you must dispute promptly.

Follow up your dispute with a WRITTEN DISPUTE or FRAUD AFFIDAVIT, sent to your bank's address for disputes from your statement.

Do NOT leave this account open, and do NOT wait to dispute through your bank, regardless of what these scammers promise or threaten.
